At first, I expected this story would just be about Harley falling for Caleb and Tyson and the three of them becoming a menage. But, holy moly, I sure as heck didn't expect what happened next! You'll have to read the book to find out what happens. If you haven't read the first 3 books in the "Sparks" series, you should read them first. Wow, who wouldn't want Caleb and Tyson both and Harley is their perfect match. No one does stories like this as well as Mari Carr. She puts enough story with just enough steam to make for an enjoyable reading experience.
This was a really steamy read, but it gave me the heart tugs all at the same time. And it honestly just felt "right". I also love that this wasn't an easy decision, they didn't just jump into it without reservations.
I liked the characters and enjoyed their friendship. All of the ménage relationship issues were not addressed That was disappointing but guess each reader can come up with whatever they want.
This just seemed highly implausible to me. I can understand the good friends part and no contact for a year. But, all of them jumping into bed right away and no jealousy between the guys. This is small town Texas and everyone is so accepting?
I actually have a love/hate relationship with stories that make me cry, and this one did that. Harley returns to Maris after a year away in Florida getting herself together. After 18 years of caring for her brother and parents, he dies and she needs to regroup. But to do that she left Tyson and Caleb behind. This story showed that no matter how long you are apart true friends will find their way back together.
Mari Carr is the queen of menage romance. She writes hot, taboo sex scenes, but still manages to make the characters realistic and true-to-life when dealing with not only the emotions involved but the the fall out from families and society. The characters feel like real people dealing with certainly unusual circumstances.
This best friends to lovers story totally makes your day. Mari's writing entrenches you in the lives of these three kindred souls. The heartache Harley has endured losing her brother isn't depressing as some other books can make you feel, but is handled with courage. Ty and Caleb are true GOOD guys and true friends add in Harley and it clicks.
